Sustainability

Doing business in a sustainable way is important to our customers and to us, as a fresh produce packing company.

Our focus is on sustainable practices like waste reduction, saving water, using clean energy, driving forward with state-of-the-art technology and rewilding our site. We strive to work in harmony with our customers, suppliers and employees to build trust and be the best at what we do.

litres of water is saved every year from the water filtration system on our grader

Solar Energy

During the summer days 100% of our production is powered by our solar energy panels and during the rest of the year we are 40% self-sufficient. Since 2015, we have worked hard to reduce our carbon footprint, saving over 1,188,809kg of CO2.

Water Filtration

We need water to wash and transport our fruit and have invested in the latest water filtration system on our grader. This helps us save more than 6.6 million litres of water every year.

LED Lighting

We made the switch to LED lighting across our whole site in 2014. It was a no brainer for us because it’s an easy way to be eco-friendly and to keep our energy costs down, which then helps us to pass on the best value to customers.

Lithium Forklift Trucks

Our whole MHE fleet is now powered by electricity. This has reduced our emissions to zero. We’ve invested in brand new forklifts to move fruit in the most cost-effective, energy efficient way.

Rewilding

Our site, set in the beautiful Kent countryside, is left to run wild and is now full of wildflowers and pollinators. It’s important to us that the outside of our plant is as environmentally friendly as the inside.
